It was a great result for all concerned to see Clairette win.

Clairette was Al Kazeem’s first winner in the UK and he is now 2/3 with his runners, which is hugely exciting. John Deer and the Oakgrove team must be very proud. She jumped well, showed good speed and some greenness, but stayed on well to take the victory from a promising type in second. Her pedigree is mixed but hopefully she can stay further.

Today we run Herculean in the 7f maiden at Ascot. He is a fine big horse, who will evoke memories of Cityscape when you see him in the paddock. He is ready for his first start and we are looking forward to getting him on the track. It’s a hot race, with rumours from Lambourn about another certain Frankel, and two others who have run solid races on debut. It will be interesting to see.

Maths Prize disappointed us last time at Sandown and we hope that we can see an improved performance today. They went no pace last time and he was a bit fresh, before they quickened from the front. He needs to up his game today and show us what he did at Newmarket and last year.
